2011 Tree of the Year Contest

Cast your vote in this year's contest and help choose Newport's 2011 Tree of the Year!

Newport’s magnificent specimen trees are world renowned — and it’s time once again to choose the best of the best.

The Newport Tree and Open Space Commission and the Newport Tree Society are once again sponsoring a contest to celebrate Newport’s historic urban forest. View the contest online (below), or visit the photographic display at the Newport Public Library and choose your favorite. The choice won’t be easy: the majestic Red Oak at the Newport Art Museum, the venerable Turkey Oak and Siberian Elm at Morton Park, and the Atlas Cedars at the corner of Eustis and Catherine are among the ten choices. Take a look at all ten and pick your favorite! Contest runs through December 30th.
