Specimen Tree Program – 2017 ORDER FORM

Thank you for participating in our Specimen Tree Program Restoration Program! Please fill out this form and we will get in touch with you shortly.

  • Choose a Tree

Please choose the specimen tree that you prefer. In the event your preferred tree is unavailable, please also select a second choice. IMPORTANT: Only a limited number of trees are available. We cannot guarantee that all applicants will receive a tree.
  • Describe Your Planting Site

Please describe the exact location where your specimen tree will be planted (on your private property in Newport). A Newport Tree Society board member or city forester will visit your property to verify that this site is suitable for the tree you have chosen.
  • Accepted file types: jpg, gif, png, pdf.
  • For help choosing a planting site, see Trees Are Good.

You can also search for your tree on SelecTree to see planting site requirements. If SelecTree does not have your specific cultivar, search for the general species. For example, for Crimson Spire Oak (Quercus robur x alba), see Quercus robur.

  • Indicate Your Commitment to Care for Your Tree

  • Optional: Purchase a Gator Bag at Reduced Cost

Gator Bags are a slow release watering system perfect for young, developing trees. The bags give deep penetrating water to roots that might normally take a person with a hose 20 minutes to accomplish.

We recommend you rotate the bag off-on every couple weeks to allow for airflow around the trunk to prevent mold or nesting bugs.

The Newport Arboretum, New England's first citywide arboretum, is a special project of The Newport Tree Society of Newport, Rhode Island.
